Wrinkles

“Wrinkles and White Hairs” became a very popular column in THE QUILTER. Jenni explains how she came to edit the column, though it has since been re-named. In the process, she’ll share a few more wrinkles with you – and show some of her quilts, too!

Light & entertaining, this talk suits daytime/summer bookings as no black-out is required.

The Alternative Uses Of Sashiko

The maze-like patterns of Sashiko are too good to use only for quilting! This lecture finds many more ways to use and enjoy Sashiko grids in your work.

Note for organisers. Black-out required for slides. Please provide a projector and screen to suit the venue.

Not Just A Label!

A slide talk offering practical advice on lay-out, creative ideas for decorating and ingenious advice against labels being removed. A label will never be ‘just a label’ again!

“Wonderful quilt labels in all shapes and sizes – and much, much more!” Doreen Hallett, former QG co-ordinator, Reg. 1.

Note for organisers. Black-out required for slides. Please provide a projector and screen to suit the venue.

Japan – Textiles And Travels

Following an exciting visit to Japan early in 2005 comes this latest addition to the list of available talks. It combines images of quilts from the Great Tokyo International Quilt Show with examples of traditional textiles visible in modern everyday life and concludes with a “live” insight into the kimono and its layers.

Organisers please note: to enjoy this presentation to the full, use of a televison with SCART socket or video phono socket is needed, alternatively a digital projector with either of these sockets.

Foreign Fabrics and Friends

Just quilts – and the stories behind them! Be entertained by anecdotes about the foreigh fabrics, friends and events that inspired them and at the same time get some new ideas for your own quilt-making.

“Probably the best talk you have ever given us!” Sandra Goldsbrough, Lindsey Patchworkers.

Borders

As given at QUILT EXPO EUROPA IV, Karlsruhe.

Following her article in the spring ’91 issue of THE QUILTER (no.46), Jenni offers a slide talk which will make you think again about the borders on your quilt. There is no instant prescription for the perfect border but Jenni tries to encourage creativity and offers constructive advice on making the most of a border. A workshop on Painless Borders is also available, see no.5 in Workshop list.

Note for organisers. Black-out required for slides. Please provide a projector and screen to suit the venue.

In Praise Of Scraps

An entertaining and informative talk.

Ideal for groups without black-out facilities or for light summer evenings, this talk is slide-free, being illustrated simply with… quilts!

Based around an article for P&Q magazine (March 2001), this presentation encourages you to set up a scrap basket (if you don’t already have one!) by offering ideas on working with scraps and sharing with the audience the benefits that I’ve enjoyed from mine!
